Quick and easy rapid fire or auto fire for your Guncon! (or any arcade button for that matter)

Time Crisis 3 for the PS2 is such a great port. It has plenty of hidden goodies, varieties of weapons, and it's even got a poor-man's split screen mode. Though one trend that Time crisis seem to carry is a more demanding trigger button. Like part 2, you get combo shots, and on part 3 there are more enemies which survives multiple blows. Without furthur babbling, here's a $7 Time Crisis 3 strategy guide. ^_^;;;

Parts needed:

LM555 / 555CN timer chip (Radio Shack part 276-1723)
0.1uF ceramic capacitor
470pF (0.00047uF) ceramic capacitor
two 10K resistors
8 pin IC socket (optional, reduce chance of burning the IC with soldering iron)
* add a 10K potentiometer if you want variable speed rapid fire (just buy it)

Well this is as simple as the diagrams show it. Solder the parts directly on to the IC socket, then run your wires through. The slightly tricky part is that you'll need to cut the ground lead for the trigger button. The ground lead is shared wtih a black wire that connects to the button underneath the Guncon's handle, so it's really easy to spot.

The curcuit is widely available all over many arcade related FAQ's. It's cheap and simple.

Yes! It is that easy to cheat the crap out of Time Crisis 3. XD

Note that I installed the switch near the thumb because I also added antoher switch up front that mimics the Guncon 1. (button A) If you hold your gun differently, be sure to place it on a convinient location or you won't be able to do weapon select with rapid fire on!

Another note is that compared to the old Guncon, these new ones use cheap press button switches for the trigger. It's no where as soft and snappy as microswitches, so I killed an old mouse, and used its mouse button to replace the cheap press button switch.

And that's it! Time to clean up the mess. ^_^
